Long Long Holiday~

During the past week, I have been going out almost every single day where possible since it was a long weekend followed by the National Day holidays. I always came home late and didn't have time to blog. hehe.

Basically, I have been playing VS a lot thanks to the two Hobby Leagues we've had so closely one after another. Coming this weekend will be more excitement when the Avengers hopefully gets released, and then there's the PCQ on Sunday. PCQs are always a tough decision because I'll always be thinking whether to join Sealed or Constructed, and whether if I can wake up on time for either of them.

Aside from that, I have also been kept busy by Jump Super Stars for my NDS. It is the game that probably every NDS owner has been waiting for ever since they saw the preview. It's pretty short, though (some guys in HK/Taiwan achieved 100% completion in around 20 hours), but I think the replayability in the multiplayer mode will be great.

Raw Deal has slowly become my second TCG interest, thanks to its rather unique gameplay. Unfortunately, no one plays it often enough at AMK to generate any long-term interest. I am rather contented with my two decks, though. Sometimes, collecting full play sets for each superstar is pretty fun itself.

As for DM, I have officially quitted the game. I just don't enjoy it anymore. To me, DM is probably the best casual game I've ever played because it is very exciting in the way that matches can easily swing in favor of broken cards, giving both side a good a chance of winning. But when it comes to its competitive environment, though, I think it is very unfair that such randomness can govern the outcome of a match. Just look at our community of DM players and see how many good, knowledgeable and experienced players we have that don't stand a chance to be recognized because they just don't have the mojo. And don't say I didn't give the game a chance; I was always the optimist who said, "Give it a few years; the game will be more balanced." But I guess this is a no-no. I've given up waiting.

As I play more VS, I can't help but draw comparisons between the two games and I am able to appreciate VS a whole lot better. It's like what my botched M:TG escapade should have been, but even better - a chance to play in a recognized internationally-supported game against a community of (mostly) mature players in their 18-20s (even 30s). And best of all, unlike M:TG, in VS, I get to play with my friends instead of hundreds of Mr. Lupit clones.

This may sound like a touchy topic, but if you guys feel I am dissing DM too much, then feel free to argue. Chances are, I may already have a good rebuttal since I did think it over very, very clearly, had spent a adequate amount of time with the game all these years, and weighed the matter very seriously in my head before deciding to drop it.

And nope, don't worry. I am not like those weirdos who say they are quitting just to garner attention so that millions of people will console them to carry on. I always mean what I say and the only way I will re-start DM is when the game really improves.
