~ Followed by Long Long Weekend

The past week has been lots of fun for many, since after National Day, the weekends are quickly upon us all again.

Saturday was supposed to be the rumored release date for the new Avengers expansion. I was kind of apprehensive about its release since all online sources pointed to 18th August as its street date, but I would be more than happy to see it released early. Alas, Saturday wasn't the day. I spent my day at AMK playing VS and Raw Deal. I kind of regretted not joining Orchi, Himura and Amerell to watch "Land of the Dead" at Bishan. I haven't watched a movie in ages but I was lazy to travel.

Sunday was the day of the PCQ, but I was very sure I couldn't wake up on time to join either event. I spent the late hours of Saturday night putting price tags on my cards while watching WWE Afterburn and Bottomline on TV.

I woke up at around 12:30 noon on Sunday. I set off for Suntec City, but I was surprised to meet my neighbor, Benedict on the bus. He, too, was going to Suntec City, but he was going for some sort of exhibition. We decided to share a cab and I ended up reaching Suntec at around 1:30 pm. I was actually just in time for Constructed, but I was too lazy, so I went for lunch before going to check the games.

It was quite amazing to see 9 rounds of Swiss for Sealed and only 6 rounds for Constructed. Everyone was probably crazy over Avengers that they decided to join Sealed, leaving only around 15+ players in Constructed. It was quite fun to watch as someone finally decided to play New School. Kelvin Soh and Wai Leong both used unorthodox decks, too, like Gamma Doom and Xavier's Dreams, so I guess everyone is into Sentinel hate nowadays. Unfortunately for those two, they didn't face any Sentinels. Noel Neo continued to demonstrate his love for the Brotherhood as I have never seen him played anything without Brotherhood cards in it. David continues to bedazzle us with his 'trademark finisher' of Beatdown'ing his opponents to death. There were two weird decks I saw that day; a Manhunters deck (that eventually made it to the finals) and another burn deck that contained a mess of Anti-Matter and other affiliated cards (I had no idea how the deck works, but I am guessing Nero burn?).

I tried to sell some of my cards. Sure enough, people were amazed at some of my cheap prices and I made a few sales. However, I only managed to sell very little since everyone else was playing in the PCQ and I only showed my album to three different groups of people. At least I was kinda relieved that I didn't get any rude remarks about my prices like I did from the moronic JJ tournament. And I got to watch all the interesting matches going on; it feels good when UDE trusts all its participants to be mature, responsible young adults - something that I can never say about JJ and their screwed up Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments.

We left the PCQ room at around evening. Everyone was tired and wanted to go home. I can relate to them, since they have all probably been away from home since 7 am in the morning. We took the northbound train and I planned to go to AMK for dinner at Breeks with Kyo. Everyone else suddenly changed their mind and decided to have dinner instead. When we arrived at the AMK MRT station, it was raining, so we made a dash for it. Poor Jeffrey dropped his glasses on the road which got grinded to smithereens by the traffic. When Bahamut arrived, we went to Breeks, and joining us was 'Jimmy Hsiang'.

It was a good time to be at Breeks. They had a new menu and I tried their chicken mozzi pattie. My weekend was now complete with a sumptious western dinner and I was one very happy man.
