Can I Really Be the Hero?

Yes, you can, Prinny. Yes, you can.

I picked up Prinny over the weekend. I've never played a single Disgaea game before but those little demonic penguins are so cute. The game also comes with the OST.

It's a real pity that the bundle is missing the Prinny plushie and PSP case that were available with pre-orders in the U.S.

I must have that Prinny plushie! It's so adorable!

P.S.: I support Prinny rights! Display this stamp in your siggy/site/blog if you do!

Pretty Fly (For a Penguin)

I woke up on Sunday at around 12 noon because I was planning to go to Funan with Miya to redeem my SFIV calender and buy some gaming speakers. I decided to play some SFIV before I go and this was when I realized that one of my buttons was faulty. I think it has become like that due to months of non-use, just that I never noticed it till today.

So I went to Funan with Miya. We shopped around and I managed to picked up an SCIV stick (which was a surprise since it is supposedly sold out everywhere). This meant no speakers for me today.

It was around 5 pm when I started to make my way home. Jeremy suddenly called me out for dinner since he was at Pasir Ris with Darrell. I met them at White Sands but we then decided to eat at Changi Airport instead.

We stopped by at my place first so I could unload my stuff. We ended up playing some Rock Band. Everyone, including myself, hated playing the drums so we stuck to singing and strumming on the guitar. haha.

We cabbed to Changi Airport T3 at around 9 pm and walked around to find a place to eat. We eventually settled with Secret Receipe, which I always thought was a cafe that served cakes.

We all went home after dinner and I was surprised to learn that Bus 53 from the airport dropped me a short distance from my block. How convenient!

By then, it was quite late already and Monday blues was beginning to seep in. I played a bit of SFIV online with Kyo to give my new stick a workout before preparing to go to bed. Even in the virtual world, my fashion sense is just as boring (plain shirt & jeans ftw). Can you guess who is who?

Dinner & Drinks with Friends

It was Saturday evening when I received an MSN message from Max, asking me out for dinner & drinks. I was actually quite tired and had things to do but he somehow managed to persuade me to go.

I met Max at Clarke Quay MRT station at around 8:30 pm and it was then I realized he had somehow worked his Jedi Mind Tricks on more unsuspecting people. Akira was there. Kyo & Jeremy turned up despite their long, tiring day of work.

It almost looked like a gathering of single, unattached people on Valentine's Day. We had curry at Waraku (which was great!). Then we went to HOOTERS!!!

HOOOOTERS!!!

...

Nope, we did not go to Hooters. I lied. No one wanted to go to Hooters. It would've matched the whole "single, unattached people" theme, though. :(

Back on track, we made our way to Archipelago, a little half open-air pub by the street with a taxi stand right outside. I had no idea what the exotic-sounding drinks were on the menu so Max ordered me a "Jack Daniels" with added coke. It was pretty mild which was fine by me.

The waitress was a PRC whose English was hard to understand and brought Jeremy "lamb juice" (lime juice). Max said that the regular waitress was not there that night. She was most probably out ona date since it was Valentine's Day.

We chatted till around 11:30 pm. I then flagged a cab down and was on my way home.

Boxes with X'es

The start of my very hectic weekend began on Friday. I'm gonna break this down into several blog posts rather than have everyone stare at a great wall o' text. haha.

I met up with Kyo and Miya at Outram Park MRT station after work. They were each going to get an Xbox 360 from Red Sands Gamers Club. The place is actually quite out of the way and probably impossible to find unless you knew it was there.

After the two of them picked up their spankin' new 60 gb Jaspers, I accompanied Miya to his place to help set up. His PacNet connection was rather uncooperative but we managed to get the console hooked up to Xbox Live to patch NXE.

Meanwhile, back home, Kyo managed to set up his console and hook it online by himself without any trouble (Power!).

I had a late dinner at McDonald's at around 11 pm before I cabbed home. I spent the rest of the night playing Street Fighter IV online all the way till morning, only pausing to sleep from 3-5 am. I don't know if I am feeling restless or just addicted. haha.

SFIV is truly an awesome game that fills the 2D arcade fighters void in this current console generation (next in line would be KOFXII!). It seems to be one of the most popular game releases on Xbox 360 and PS3 this past week. I see it sold out in many places and there is plenty of talk about it on most gaming forums.

The game has an awesome, artistic opening. The song is The Next Door by EXILE.

*The full version of the song.*

Eventually, I was so tired that I hopped into bed at around 10 am and slept till late afternoon.

Cleaning Up, One Cubic Centimetre at a Time

CNY is supposed to be the time where everyone cleans their room to make things look nice & tidy. Somehow, I decided only to start cleaning up weeks after. I think the spring cleaning I have done at work kinda rubbed off on me. I now make it a point to spend ten minutes per day throwing out junk.

I dumped my Acer Aspire (hard drive died for the 2nd time) and my ancient Epson printer (which I last powered on two years ago). Next would be my archaic scanner whose drivers are on a freakin' 3.5" diskette.

Then there are those the old books from NUS which I am hesitant to toss out cos' they are all $$$. I'd imagine there will come a time when I am faced with a life-threatening situation that can only be solved by reading Practical Object-Oriented Design with UML [/sarcasm]. I guess out they go.

Maybe I need to start by making a list of stuff that I actually want to keep and stick to it. I have imagined that when everything is over, all I'll be left with are...
- Video game stuff (Xbox 360, PSP, DS, with the PS2 locked up somewhere)
- Comics & Manga (need to start throwing away some of my collection)
- Books (just novels and a few interesting NUS books I guess)
- Trading cards (one box/album for the card games I played)
- Other stuff (my penguins and action figures!)

I really hope I can actually clear my room before the end of this year even though it is something that I strive to do every year in vain. I really need a whole new set of furniture to replace the same old stuff that I have been seeing since Junior College.
